Vaginal Yeast Infection: Do You Really Have?
Many women, who buy medicines for yeast Infection, do not have yeast infection. The symptoms are caused by something else although it resembles symptoms caused by yeast candida albicans.
Common symptoms of vaginal yeast infection are:
- Itching and burning in the vagina and vulva
- Swelling, soreness and pain around vulva
- Pain during urination and intercourse
- Vaginal discharge. The discharge will be odorless or smell like baker’s yeast and thick with whitish appearance. There may not be any discharge also.
These symptoms may also be caused by dermatitis, seborrhea, eczema and chemical reactions from soap, vaginal sprays, laundry detergent, color toilet paper and products of colored scented bubble bath. Pubic lice and scabies also cause similar symptoms. And, most significantly it is caused by Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and common parasite Trichomonas Vaginalis.
The male partner may not have any symptoms but must be treated to prevent further spread and for his health. Bacterial vaginosis is the common cause for vaginal discharge with itching and foul odor. It is not a sexually transmitted disease but common with sexually active women. It must be treated with antibiotic to prevent the bacteria from entering the uterus and fallopian tubes, more so, if the woman is pregnant.
A douche should never be used since it can push the bacterial infection into uterus. During pregnancy, yeast infection is common. But, a bacterial infection which looks like yeast infection is serious and if left untreated may cause premature birth, intraamniotic infection and also postpartum infections of the uterus which necessitates hospital care after the delivery. During pregnancy, no self diagnose and self treatment for yeast infection be carried out. Better let the Doctor diagnose the symptoms. Natural yeast infection remedies will never cure the other more serious illnesses although the symptoms may vanish.
