Symptoms, Prevention and Cure of Gonorrhea


Gonorrhea is a disease acquired by men or women for the sake of sexual pleasure. Gonorrhea patients are growing in number every year.  Many cases go unreported. The disease if left untreated may turn fatal.  So, one should diagnose it, prevent it and cure it.

Definition of Gonorrhea
A bacteria, Neustria Gonorrhoeae, causes gonorrhea. It grows and spreads in the warm and moist condition of the reproductive organ viz. cervix, urethra, and fallopian tubes in women. The bacterium also grows in the throat, mouth, rectum and eyes.

How does one catch Gonorrhea?
It spreads through contact of mouth, penis, vagina or anus.  Gonorrhea is not caused through ejaculation.

Symptoms of Gonorrhea
With men symptoms vary, some show signs after a week or even a month and some do not show any symptoms.  Symptoms are intense burning sensation during urination and / or white , yellow, green discharge and swollen testicles.

 In men, gonorrhea causes epididymitis and infertility.  Women may not show any symptoms or have non-specific symptoms and often mistaken as vaginal or bladder infection. Initial symptoms for women include burning sensation after urination, increased vaginal discharge and vaginal bleeding.

Gonorrhea leads to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and infertility in women. When anus gets infected both for men or women, the symptoms include itching, soreness, bleeding. Gonorrhea patients may receive HIV virus that causes AIDS.

Gonorrhea cure
Since Chlamydia another sexual disease is normally associated with gonorrhea, antibiotics for both are given. Medication will stop infection but will not cure any damage already done. A cured patient may again be infected if he has sexual contact with infected person.

Prevention of Gonorrhea
One should check up the partner’s past sexual history before indulging sexual act. Use of condoms reduces the risk.
